Chikmagalur: Cinematic chase of dacoits ensues by locals after failed robbery

Chikmagalur: An incident of an attempted robbery by two dacoits in the town here was reported on Saturday.

Two helmet-wearing men arrived on a motorbike at the house of former CDA chief Chandre Gowda at AIT Circle.

They entered the house, tied up Gowda and his wife and started to collect things.

Gowda’s son arrived and on seeing his mother being tied and gagged he shouted for help.

On hearing his shouts, the dacoits ran out were a few locals had arrived. The two reached their motorbike after threatening the people with a knife.

When they had started to escape on their motorbike a fire extinguishing truck deliberately collided with them causing them to fall.

The locals then started pelting stones at both of them.

Video of the alleged escape went viral on social media.

The duo, identified as Sachin and Mohan, were later arrested by police from Dantaramakki Layout here.
