Russia’s communications regulator on Monday accused Twitter of violating Russian law, saying that the social media company had not adhered to some of its requests to delete banned content.
The regulator, Roskomnadzor, said Twitter had failed to delete over 2,800 posts containing material linked to suicide, pornography and drugs since 2017, and could be fined heavily if found guilty.
According to Reuters, Twitter has been fined in the past for breaching Russia’s data laws, but the fines have so far been relatively small
