Udaipur: Phool Singh, a two-time MLA of the BJP from the Udaipur Assembly constituency, has appeared for the Bachelor of Arts examination at the age of 62.
Phool Singh has to stop his schooling in class 7 after his father passed away. He started working in agriculture and took care of his family.
Now, after having a good foothold in politics, he is pursuing a degree in political science.
“I was inspired by my 5 daughters for this. They had questioned me ‘don’t you feel embarrassed to be in politics as a class 7 dropout?’ They applied for a distance education course at the Udaipur University for me,” Phool Singh said.
“In 2013, I was to appear for my class 10 examinations. Since I got a ticket from the party to contest the election I could not appear for the examinations of two subjects. I passed the examination in 2015 and finished the pre-university course in 2016-17. Then I took admission in the BA course in 2018-19 and now I am writing the final year exam. My daughters are the reason for all of this,” Singh added.
