Bantwal: A 52-year-old woman from Bantwal’s Navoor village has been arrested on charges of killing her husband following a quarrel between the couple on March 3 night.

The victim Sesappa Poojary (60), a coolie by profession died on March 5, two days after his wife Umavathi (the accused) assaulted him with a sickle.

As per reports, the couple would get drunk and fight with each other frequently. On March 3 night too, a verbal duel erupted between the two and Umavathi allegedly assaulted him with a sickle. Their daughter intervened and managed to stop the fight.

Though Sesappa was bleeding from the forehead because of the wound suffered in the assault, he did not visit a doctor and took rest at home.

Bantwal police have registered a case and are investigating Umavathi.
