STPI to set up Cyber Security CoE in Mysuru

Mysuru: The Software Technology Parks Of India’s (STPI) Director General Omkar Rai announced that a Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security will be set up in the new STPI centre here.

Speaking during the annual IT conference organised by the local Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Rai said that the CoE will foster and accelerate start-ups and innovators in the development of cybersecurity products.

Chief Operating Officer of Infosys UB Pravin Rao, delivering the keynote speech said that after the beginning of the pandemic when most of the work was done from home, cyberattacks increased by 300 per cent as home computers or laptops are very vulnerable.

He added hence there is a great need for affordable cybersecurity products the market for which will grow to $35 billion by 2030 from $4 billion now.

Vice-chairman of CII-Mysuru Pavan Ranga said that as with more and more business activities being run online cyber-attacks too will increase. Adding that even the future of warfare is cyber-warfare.
