Davangere: A bridegroom was killed on the spot and two other members of his family, including his mother, sustained serious injuries following a collision between their car and a jeep during the wee hours of Saturday, March 6.
The deceased is identified as Abhishek Gowda, 26, son of Jagadeesh, a resident of Hunsur. His mother, Manjula and Nataraj were critically injured and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
It is gathered that the family had gone to Davangere for buying clothes for the wedding. Abhishek and three others were travelling in the Swift car while his father Jagadish was travelling behind them in another vehicle.
The family was headed home when their car collided into an oncoming jeep due to low visibility owing to dense foggy conditions. Abhishek was killed on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
His body is kept in the district morgue at Channarayapatna. A case has been registered at Channarayapatna Station.
Jagadish’s elder son had died by drowning around five years ago. A pall of gloom has descended over the entire house due to the unfortunate turn of incidents.
