Bengaluru: The High Court here reprimanded the State government for not redrafting its order banning travel between the districts of Kasargod in Kerala and Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka.

A division bench of Chief Justice Abhay Oka and Justice S Vishwajith Shetty also termed the order ridiculous as of the 25 entry points on the border between the two States restrictions were put on only four and said that it was in contravention of n order by the Union government.

The counsel representing the petitioner challenging the government order stated that the order restricted the movement of people only from Kasargod district and not from other parts of Kerala.

The counsel representing the Karnatka government replied that this was because many people from Kasargod district would travel to Dakshina Kannada district daily for work and other purposes.

The Dakshina Kannada district administration had on February 18 passed an order prohibiting travel from Kasargod to the district without a negative RT-PCR test report.
