Bengaluru: A case of prolicide was reported from Kanakapura taluk near here where a two-year-old girl child was killed by her parents, grandmother and great-grandmother.

B Shankara and K Manasa, parents of the child S Mahadevi, confessed to the police that they planned the heinous act due to the child disability.

Mahadevi had no motor controls and could not speak.

The duo was supported by Shankara’s mother and grandmother who also agreed to perform the task of killing her.

Both the woman took Mahadevi to a well 6 kilometres from their residence and threw her into it on March 8.

The next day, nearby residents noticed the floating dead body and reported it to the police.

The police successfully found out that the girl is the daughter of Shankara and brought him and Manasa for identification.

The couple told the police that their daughter could have been abducted and then killed.

However, they did not realise that the police already knew that two senior citizens had thrown the child into the well as they were seen by a temple priest while both of them went and came back from the well.

The parents finally broke down and revealed that they planned to kill their daughter as both of them could not afford to pay, from their chemical factory job, the more than Rs 10,000 being incurred as medical expenses on her each month.
