Ayurveda means the science of life, it is not just a method of treatment but a way of healthy living. Ayurveda, being the 5000 y/o methods, is proven science that one can rely on to cure health issues, especially diabetes.

Ayurveda describes diabetes as Madhumeha. Phlegm, heat, and toxic mucous create blockages in the pancreas, according to Ayurved, it stops the secretion of insulin resistance, which results in sugar levels in the blood or urine.

Common symptoms include feeling thirsty, urinating often, feeling hungry or tired, unexpected weight loss, dry or itchy skin, numbness and tingling sensation, and blurry vision.

There are two types of diabetes, type 1 is also called insulin-dependent diabetes which often begins in childhood, whereas type 2 diabetes is a result of insufficient production of insulin causing high blood sugar.

One has to follow a specific lifestyle according to the individual’s health history. The diabetic conditions can be treated through a natural approach of Ayurveda. Diet and lifestyle play a key role in maintaining and improving overall health.

A healthy diabetic diet must include, limiting food that is high in sugar, being careful about the intake of carbohydrates, eating a variety of whole-grain food and vegetable, limiting alcohol consumption, and using less salt.

Along with a healthy diet, regular physical activity is essential for people with diabetes and those at risk of diabetes.

Include natural Ayurvedic ingredients like amla and turmeric to help improve metabolism. Also adding fenugreek extract helps in the absorption of sugar from the stomach to the blood.

With the change in lifestyle, health needs to be the top priority, and hence following an ayurvedic approach will help better one’s health.
