Udupi DC warns of fine, criminal case if mask rule not followed

Udupi: Amid a surge in coronavirus cases in the neighboring states of Kerala and Maharashtra, Udupi District Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha on Tuesday, March 16 has warned of stringent action against those flouting Covid rules.
Speaking to the reporters at the Ajjarkad district hospital after receiving the second jab of coronavirus vaccine, the DC said that people need to exercise extra caution as the second wave of coronavirus is emerging.
People must wear mask in public places failing which they will be penalised. He also warned of a criminal case against violators. In case commercial establishments flouting Covid rules, their trade license will be canceled apart from levying penalty, he added.
On inter-state arrivals from Maharashtra and Kerala, Jagadeesha informed that the number of people arriving from these states is on the rise. He mentioned that people are being subjected to Covid tests at border areas and that one can enter the district if he/she possesses a negative test report.
