Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said that the present situation that we are in today requires us to be more sensitive and kind.

His statement comes in view of the incident where a private school in the city excluded students from appearing in exams who could not afford to pay the extra fees and a similar incident at a school in Srirangapatna taluk.

“Such cases in the face of hardships are not good for the future of the nation, as it undermines the confidence of our students. Private schools should take action to prevent such cases from recurring. I have repeatedly stated the need to avoid such cases. A student in a private school at Bengaluru’s Koramangala attempted suicide earlier after facing such a situation,” he added.

“The High Court has also stressed the need to handle this delicate matter very courteously. All private school’s governing bodies of the State should act sensibly in the interests of the children. We need to be aware of our social responsibility in these pandemic times,” he said.

The minister warned that school management should be aware that the department will exercise its authority if cases like these are repeated.
