Tumakuru: A case where a security guard removed a three-month-old dead baby from the burial ground and stopped its funeral was reported from Jampenahalli near Koratagere in the district here.
The baby had died of shock from the sound of an explosion at the Yettinahole project works. The family of the baby lived in a hut less than 50 metres from the blast site.
The family had prepared for the baby’s funeral and burial at a burial ground adjoining the Suvarnamukhi river. However, the security guard of the place threatened the family and removed the body of the dead baby from the burial pit.
Locals opposing the misconduct of the security guard complained to the tehsildar.
“An inhumane act had been committed by the security guard of Shahi Garments. I have immediately informed officials to survey the Suvarnamukhi river and the rajakaluve and detect the encroachments on it. Additionally, officials have also been notified to identify and demark the burial grounds,” Koratagere tehsildar Govindaraju said.
