Mangaluru: According to reports, about 50 per cent of workers from the medical profession in the Dakshina Kannada district are yet to be administered the COVID-19 vaccine.
Most of those still pending for the jab are the nursing, medical and dental students.
Officials from two prominent medical education institutions in the district have stated that misinformation spread through social media are the reasons for the hesitancy among the student community.
District Health Officer Ramachandra Bairy has said that many are shedding their initial reluctance and coming forward to get vaccinated, however much work needs to be done to promote the safety of the vaccine among the medical community in the district.
