Mangaluru: Penalties for violating COVID-19 guidelines revised

Mangaluru: The district administration here has revised the fines paid for violating COVID-19 guidelines.

Rs 250 fine will be imposed for not wearing face masks or maintaining distancing or both within Mangaluru City Corporation limits and Rs 100 in other places.

The number of people allowed to attend events has been capped at 500 in open places and 200 at closed places.

If this attendance limit is violated then the venue’s owners, event planners or organizers will be held responsible and penalised.

Places such as marriage halls and chuoltries will have to pay a penalty of Rs 5,000 while star hotels will have to pay Rs 10,000.

Air-conditioned department stores, branded shops and shopping malls will have to pay a penalty of Rs 10,000 if they allow customers to enter without wearing masks and not maintaining distancing among customers.
