Bengaluru: In a first, Corps of Military Police at its Regimental Centre in Bengaluru has inducted women into its rank and file, and the first batch of 100 women military soldiers are now pursuing training at CMP Centre & School in Bengaluru.

The women soldiers will have the same terms, conditions and duties applicable to their male counterparts, Bengaluru Defence PRO HL Guruprasad confirmed.

The passing-out parade of the first batch is scheduled to be held on May 8 later this year, Defence PRO confirms.

“These women are mostly graduates and two (of them) have joined ranks after post-graduation. There are many national players among them. These women have broken the stereotype thought-process of patriarchal society,” a statement issued on Friday read.

The women soldiers were inducted into the rank and file of Corps of Military Police after which formal training began in January 2020.
