Bengaluru: ‘KGF’ star Yash on Saturday expressed discontent over the State government’s decision to operate theatres with 50 per cent occupancy in eight districts of the State.
Taking to Twitter, Yash warned that there is no disease bigger than hunger.
“Everyone needs money for survival. Restrictions should help save lives and not destroy livelihoods,” he stated.
Further, he said that this sudden decision of the government towards the film industry is reprehensible.
“Why the restriction on cinema when all others industries can function normally,” he questioned.
Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Karnataka government on Friday issued a new order restricting theatre occupancy to 50 per cent.
Actor Puneeth Rajkumar, whose ‘Yuvarathnaa’ released in theatres this week tweeted, “Going back to 50% theatrical occupancy is surely a shocker to a film tats just released. Respecting the govt’s decision too is our duty, keeping in mind it’s for a reason. I wish team #Yuvaratna the best of strength to overcome this situation and come out victorious. @hombalefilms (sic).”
Several other Sandalwood stars too have urged the government to rethink the guidelines for theatres.
