Man conceals over Rs 37 lac gold in rectum, held at M’luru airport

Mangaluru: Based on profiling, Custom officials at Mangaluru International Airport intercepted a Dubai returnee and confiscated gold valued at over Rs 37 lakhs from his possession.
The passenger Noushad Thrikkulath, 37, a native of Kasaragod had arrived via Air India flight IX 384 coming from Dubai in the wee hours of Sunday, April 4. He was attempting to smuggle gold by concealing it inside his body through rectum.
Gold of net weight 802.000 grams valued at Rs 37.29 lakhs has been seized. Further investigation is under progress.
The operation was led by Avinash Kiran Rongali I.R.S Deputy Commissioner. Crucial role of surveillance and interception was executed by Superintendents Rakesh, Barik and Ashish.
Mangalore Air customs has been successfully intercepting smuggling activities taking place through various modus operandi like concealment in the body, clothes, toys etc in the recent past from the international Airport and creating a strong deterrence to the evaders.
