62 acre land sanctioned in Jammu for Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams to build temple

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir administrative council has sanctioned granting 62.02 acre of land in Majeen village for the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams, that governs Lord Venkateswara’s shrine in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirumala, to build a temple.
On Thursday, the council, headed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, approved a proposal to allot land on Sidhra bypass along Srinagar-Pathankot highway to the TTD for building a temple and its allied infrastructure on 40-year lease.
”Sanction is hereby accorded to the grant of state land measuring 496 kanal 17 malra (62.02 acres) at village Majeen, Jammu, in favour of TTD for building of temple and its allied infrastructures, pilgrim amenities complex, vedapatasala, spriritual, meditation centre, office, residential quarters, parking, etc on lease basis for a period of 40 years from the date of taking over the possession,” an order stated.
The order issued by the principal secretary to the government, revenue department, Shaleen Kabra stated the land is granted on payment of nominal ground rent of Rs 10 per kanal per annum without charge of any premium subject to the condition that the land would be used only for the purpose for which it is granted.
While approving the proposal, the Jammu and Kashmir government said there would be medical and educational facilities also in the campus in the future.
A government spokesperson said the arrival of TTD in Jammu and Kashmir would tap the tourism potential particularly pilgrim tourism in Jammu, the city of temples, besides enhancing economic activities.
”Once developed, the TTD infrastructure will be an attraction for the pilgrims and tourists in addition to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Amarnathji Shrine”, he said.
