‘Change is the only constant’, says Namma Angadi team, all set for an online event

Press Release, Apr 6, 2021, 7:55 AM IST

Manipal: Namma Angadi team is all set for an online event. For almost two decades, the event has brought together people from all over to celebrate and experience coastal Karnataka and played an integral role in the college experience of the students of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC).

Summers for the students of MIC have been all about Namma Angadi. This year though, the students are seen gearing themselves for a new approach – an online Namma Angadi.

With the second wave of COVID-19 spreading across India, quick-thinking students decided on shifting the much anticipated event on online platforms.

“We understand the importance of the event for not only excited customers but also for the people of Namma Bhoomi. Since the event is highly sentimental for many of us, we first decided to have an offline event with restrictions. But with cases rapidly spreading, we stepped back and changed our plan. Luckily for us, technology and the online medium have been a blessing. Not only have we shifted Namma Angadi online but have decided to take it across India! We’ve built a hassle free system without compromising on the sentimental value of Namma Angadi”, says Nyrika Guha Roy, Project Manager of the event.

In their collective effort to make Namma Angadi seamless for their customers and provide the best platform for Namma Bhoomi, the students have created an easygoing system. Customers can have a look at the detailed online catalogue and place their orders on the 9th, 10th and 11th of April. The orders can be placed via Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook between 9 AM and 8 PM.

Once the orders are placed, the customers can rest assured that their orders will reach their doorsteps. The first online edition of Namma Angadi also includes free deliveries across India. Additionally, Namma Bhoomi Kundapur will host an offline exhibition and sale on the same dates. Apart from
handwoven garments, handcrafted accessories, bags, and more will be available in this one-ofa-kind, online sale.

Namma Angadi is a collective of the students from MIC to help provide a platform for NGO Namma Bhoomi in Kundapura. The NGO helps empower local artisans and children by exhibiting their craft.
