RTC workers’ strike: DK DC directs officials to make alternative arrangements for passengers

Mangaluru: In the wake of the state-owned transport corporations employees’ strike, which entered the second day over salary-related issues, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V has directed the officials to make alternative arrangements so that the people do not face hardships.
Dr Rajendra K V who held a meeting with this regard informed that any passenger cabs, private buses etc which have registration and insurance and are fit for transport can be pressed into service either with a temporary permit or otherwise, as per the needs of the people.
The DC further directed the deputy director of public instruction to gather information from the students travelling to schools and colleges and provide the same to his office.
District superintendent of police Rishikesh, city corporation commissioner Akshy Sridhar, regional transport officer Varnekar, and office bearers of private bus owners’ union, maxi cab owners association etc were present.
