Severe rains, winds batter parts of DK dist; electric poles, trees uprooted; houses damaged

Mangaluru: Several parts of the Dakshina Kannada district received heavy showers with stormy winds late on Sunday.
In Bantwal taluk many houses were damaged after trees fell on them.
At Mittakatta village, lightning struck a house.
In Ullal town, a few houses suffered damages.
While in Harekal village near Ullal, a tree fall caused 6 roadside electric poles to fall on the road.
MESCOM workers and locals cleared the tree and the poles, late into the night.
