Ramadan or Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims across the world. It is considered to be the most pious month for the Muslim community, where devotees observe fast and pray. It is also custom to visit friends and relatives on this special occasion.

The first day of fasting for the holy month is determined by the sighting of the new moon. The Holy month of Ramadan begins from Tuesday, April 13 and will conclude on Tuesday, May 11. After the Holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Eid al-Fitr takes place. This year, the festival is expected to fall on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Fasting begins a few hours after the sighting of the moon at sunrise and continues until sunset. Devotees pray five times a day and do not eat or drink during the day. They also refrain from sinful acts, such as false speech, insulting, cursing, lying, and fighting

The period of fasting is considered the most auspicious days in the Islamic calendar. It helps the community grow spiritually and get closer to Allah.
