Nilanshi Patel from Gujarat, who held the Guinness World Record title for the longest hair on a teenager in 2018 has finally gone for a haircut.
Also known as Gujarat’s Rapunzel, Nilanshi has been growing her hair since the age of six and this is her first haircut in 12 years.
According to Guinness World Records, Nilanshi had her hair measured for the last time in July 2020, right before her 18th birthday. Her hair had reached the length of 200 centimeters.
In the video, just before the haircut, Nilanshi says, “I’m so excited and a little bit nervous because I don’t know how I’m looking in the new hairstyle…so let’s see what happens, but I hope it’s going to be amazing.”
The video shows Nilanshi kissing her hair and bidding goodbye to them.
According to the Guinness World Records blog post, Nilanshi had three options to choose from, auctioning her hair, donating it to charity for cancer patients, or donating it to a museum. Her mother Kaminiben suggested donating her hair to the museum. As her record-breaking story was inspirational and promised to donate her own hair to cancer patients.
