Karnataka government tightens rules for weddings, public gatherings; releases guidelines

Bengaluru: Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Karnataka government has banned large gatherings at public functions and wedding ceremonies across the state.
As per the guidelines, only 200 people are allowed to attend social events including weddings and 100 for congregations in closed spaces while maintaining social distancing protocols.
Only 25 people will be allowed at birthday parties in closed spaces or death ceremonies like cremations or burials. If they are held in open spaces, 50 people can be allowed with social distancing and wearing masks
Also, only 200 people are allowed to participate in political rallies and events across the state
Karnataka on Friday reported its biggest single day spike of 14,859 COVID-19 cases, and 78 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 11,24,509 and the toll to 13,190
