Mangaluru: The state government has approved the revised plan of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) 2019 of the Centre.
The new plan will have several initiatives to boost tourism in Dakshina Kannada in particular and coastal tourism in general, including the overall development of the beaches in the district.
It is said that the new plan will have provision to construct any structure on beaches and accordingly resorts, homestay and apartments will be built. Adequate connecting roads, toilets, high mast lamps, and other facilities will be provided at these places.
Earlier, Minister for Tourism, Environment and Ecology C.P. Yogeshwar had said that the Sasihithlu beach will be made a permanent venue for surfing event and regular international surfing activities will be organised.
But, Locals also allege that the developmental activities might have an impact on the sea creature and plants.
However, once the notification is announced, the public has 60 days to raise their objection. After which there will be a meeting, presided by the DC.
Taking into account all the objections and disputes, the district administration will send a report to the state government. After verification, the report will be sent to the central government who will finally approve the project.
