Kundapura: 5th class drop out builds electric sand filtering machine

Kundapura: Babu Poojary, an automobile mechanic from Hemmady in the taluk here has built an electric-powered sand filtering machine.

Poojary (54) has studied till class 5 and owns a small mechanic’s shop in Hemmady. He has been a mechanic since the age of 13.

It took him less than a week to build the machine which was built using a motor of 1 hp, mesh, iron angler and a spar box at a cost of Rs 23,000.

The machine can filter 3 units of sand in one hour.

“I had previously made a similar machine for a relative of mine who was studying in ITI. Have upgraded the design of the machine. I have already sold a couple of the machines and demands have come for more,” says Babu Poojary.
