Mangaluru: A day after the State government issued new guidelines to the COVID-19 spread, Dakshina Kannada’s Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra and the city’s Police Commissioner N Shashikumar convened a joint press conference here on April 21.

Marriages that are scheduled during the weekend curfew will be permitted but the number of attendees has been fixed at 50 persons, including the priests and wedding photographers, it was informed.

A list of guests attending the wedding needs to be prepared and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office who then would issue the prescribed number of passes for people attending.

The attendees would be required to produce the wedding card, the passes and ID proof to the patrol police while attending a ceremony during the weekend curfew.

The pass issued to one member of the family cannot be used by another.

The guest rule will be the same for marriages being conducted in temples.

Apart from marriages, all other religious activities of temples should be done by the priests alone and the general public will be forbidden to participate.

During the weekend curfew purchasing of essential items will be allowed between 6 am to 10 am.
