Udupi: The 31st successor to head the Shiroor matha here will be officiated in a ceremony on May 14.
Aniruddha, a class 10 boy from Nidle village near Dharmasthala has been selected to succeed as the pontiff of the historical matha.
Pontiff of the Sodhe matha Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji said that Aniruddha was interested in religious practices from an early age and had expressed to his father that he will be a seer in the Shiroor matha.
“On reviewing his birth charts it was revealed that he has the ‘yog’ to be the pontiff. Hence, after examining his background, qualities, knowledge and interests it was decided to make him the next pontiff of the Shiroor matha,” the Swamiji said.
The ‘Sanyasa Sweekara’ ceremony of Aniruddha will take place at the Sodhe matha in Sirsi between May 11 and 14 and the ‘Pattabhishekha’ ceremony will be conducted on May 14 between 12:35 – 12:50 pm.
