Mandya: A 55-year-old Covid-19 positive woman’s body was left for hours at the doorstep after health officials and relatives refused to perform her last rites in Shettihalli, Mandya.
It is said that woman was awaiting her coronavirus test results when her condition deteriorated and villagers called an ambulance.
Hospital officials apparently came to return her body after her death and left it outside her house. A few locals put garland on her body but refused to touch it. Woman’s two daughters too refused to perform her last rites
The villagers approached the health officials to follow COVID protocol and conduct the last rites of the woman but were turned away.
Later, after repeated objections, the district officials performed the woman’s burial
