New Delhi: Maldives has been a popular holiday destination for Bollywood celebrities and social media has been flooded with vacation pics of these superstars. However as coronavirus cases continue to surge in the country, Maldives joined the list of other countries that have imposed restriction on travellers from India.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives announced the suspension of flights from India in a tweet.

Disha Patani, Jhanavi Kapoor were among few of the celebs who visited Maldives for a beach holiday. Netizens, including few from film industry had criticised the celebs for flooding social media with their holiday pictures as the country grappled with the pandemic crisis.

Following the announcement, restricting Indian travellers from visiting Maldives, netizens flooded the internet with memes about Bollywood celebrities.

The restrictions imposed by Ministry of Tourism however may not impact the Bollywood celebrities as they stay on the uninhabited islands that have one dedicated resort. The restriction would affect only those travellers visiting the inhabited islands.
