Senior Congress leader and former MP SB Sidnal no more

Belagavi: Former four-time MP from Belgaum Lok Sabha constituency and senior politician SB Sidnal (85), passed away at his residence here on Tuesday morning.

His body will be kept for the public to pay their last respects on Tuesday at noon at the family farmhouse in Sanekoppa village in Bailhongal taluk.

The funeral will be held at a ground in Sanekoppa at around 5 pm, his family said.

Sidnal hails from a family of freedom fighters. A lawyer by profession, he became the president of the Bar Association in 1979.

He was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1980 and later contested and won in 1984, 1989 and 1991 elections.

In 1972, he had lost the Vidhan Sabha election to BD Inamdar from the Kittur constituency.
