Bengaluru: Former CM  Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that he went for campaigning because EC conducted elections and it was EC’s responsibility to postpone the elections amid the pandemic

Speaking to the reporters here, Siddaramaiah said, ” If EC wouldn’t have conducted the elections, why would I go for campaigning? EC could have postponed the 5 state election. Was it necessary amid the pandemic? PM Modi is playing with the lives of people”

” In one of the rallies, PM said that he had never seen such a crowd in his entire life. It was more important for him to conduct rallies than controlling the spread of Covid-19. Madras High Court has blamed the EC for the second wave of Covid-19. A murder case must be filed against them,” he added

He further said, “Centre and State ignored the warning of health advisory committee, In November 2020, the technical advisory committee had warned of a second wave in January 2021. But the government ignored it and did not take any measures to increase the capacity of  hospital beds, oxygen cylinders and ventilators”

“Dr Devi Shetty claimed that there are more than 15 lakh cases per day in the state, but those are not reported. Cases are less because of lack of testing. Health experts are constantly giving suggestions to the Health Minister, but CM does not pay heed,” he opined
