Mangaluru: The state government has imposed a 2-week long lockdown to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus while allowing a 4-hour relaxation, from 6 am to 10 am, for essential shops.

However as people in large numbers are seen flocking to the market during the lockdown relaxation time, the city district administration is planning to home deliver the essential items.

As a comparison to day one of lockdown, a larger turnout of people was witnessed on Thursday, April 29 in the city for buying essentials leading to crowding at the market.

In order to reduce the crowd in the market places the district administration along with the Mangaluru City Corporation is planning to start home delivery of the essential items.

As per the plan, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will tie up with the provision stores and supermarkets that will home-deliver groceries and other essential items to apartments and houses in all the wards in the city.

People will be allowed to place orders via message to the shops that fall in their respected ward and the items will be delivered to them.
