New Delhi: India is currently battling the second wave of Covid-19 and the issue of oxygen shortage has been a major concern for authorities. Amid this chaos, an oxygen concentrator that was meant for a senior Covid-infected patient landed with the Chennai Super Kings IPL team.

Anwar had purchased the concentrator from Bengaluru for his father Ansari, who had been experiencing low levels of SpO2 and decided to carry it with him on the Indigo flight to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi airport, he did not find the checked-in baggage containing the concentrator and flagged the issue with the authorities.

It so happened that a member of CSK team, which had also landed in Delhi for their IPL match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 28 had accidentally picked up Answar’s package.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the players carry basic personal belongings with them while the other luggage is transported separately and kept in a hotel room for an entire day for sanitizing purposes before players are allowed to access them.

On April 27, team CSK found out that they had brought an extra piece of luggage from the airport and informed staff, who themselves were trying to locate missing luggage after Anwar raised the complaint about the missing luggage.

A statement released by Indigo in this regard stated, “As per the CCTV footage, the box was taken off the belt by another airline porter and got mixed up with the baggage of their passengers. These bags belonged to the players of the CSK IPL team who had arrived on a Vistara flight at the same time.”
