Udupi: District Commissioner G Jagadeesh on Friday, April 30 said that as the cases are rising in the district due to the second wave, the number of ICU beds in the government and private hospitals should be increased
Jagadeesh who held a meeting with the medical expert committee at the deputy commissioner’s auditorium directed them to record the details of the patients getting admitted and discharged every day as it will give clarity regarding the scarcity of beds if any.
He further added, “Proper examination of those infected should be done. Only those who need hospitalization should be admitted. Do not admit those who have mild symptoms and need only home isolation. Inform the control room when patients are shifted from one hospital to the other.”
“Make sure that oxygen that is being provided to patients does not go to waste. Train all the staff in this regard. There is no scarcity of oxygen in the district at present. Give Remdesivir only to patients that require them,” he maintained.
District panchayat CEO, Dr Navin Bhat, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district surgeon, Dr Madhusoodan Nayak, district Covid nodal officer, Dr Prashanth Bhat and committee doctors were present.
