Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, a father and son dragged a man for more than 250 metres hanging by their Mercedes car, over a payment issue.
The victim, Jeethesh Kumar, runs a mobile phone service centre, ‘Gadgets Pro’, in Garudacharpalya.
Reportedly, one of the accused, Bohra, a research scholar at a private research university in the US, had given his mobile phone for repairs on April 26, and the bill came up to Rs 12,000.
Kumar had shared his e-wallet details to make the payment. However, on April 29, the accused made an online payment of Rs 11,300 to the bank account number mentioned in the bill, without consulting Kumar. As there was a dispute over some payments in that account, Kumar did not receive the money, following which he requested them to give him a day so he could check with the bank, and return the phone.
The same evening, Bohra’s mother called Kumar and offered to pay Rs 12,000 in cash, as they needed the phone immediately for Bohra to attend online classes. She also said that he could return the money if the online payment was successful.
On April 30, Bohra told Kumar that he will pay cash and asked him to bring the phone near Phoenix Marketcity.
When Kumar reached there, the father-son duo were there in a red Mercedes-Benz, who tried to snatch the phone from his hand, but when he held on to it, he caught hold of Kumar’s right hand and told his son to move the car.
While the accused drove, his father dragged Kumar sitting inside the car for about 250 metres.
