Popular Tamil comedian Pandu passes away due to Covid

Popular Tamil actor and comedian Pandu breathed his last on Thursday, May 6 at a private hospital in Chennai where he was being treated after testing positive for Coronavirus recently.

The 74-year-old actor’s wife too has been diagnosed positive for Covid-19 and is currently in hospital for treatment.

Expressing shock over his demise producer and distributor G Dhananjayan tweeted, “”Better to switch off from all social media for sometime. Very shocking to read this morning news. #RIPPandu sir, one of the finest human beings & actors. Going to be on home quarantine for some days. Be safe at home friends. Take care. Very challenging days ahead (sic).”

Pandu made his debut as an actor in the year 1970 with the Jaishankar-Muthuraman starrer Maanavan. He has also been a part of films like ‘Ghilli’, ‘Kadhal Kottai’, ‘Pokkiri’ and ‘Ezhaiyin Siripil’. ‘Indha Nilai Maarum’ was the last movie he acted in.

Pandu was running a design company called ‘Capital Letters.’ It is said that the actor had designed the iconic flag of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) and Tamil Nadu tourism logo.
