Won’t be surprising if people in villages start rioting against lockdown, says Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Opposition leader Siddaramaiah has said that people in rural areas of the State are tired of suffering under the sickly BJP government and might start rioting against the lockdown that is starting from Monday.

Tweeting about it he said that the BJP government’s decision to ban vehicle traffic during the lockdown relaxation period, between 6 am and 10 am, is stupid.

“According to the new lockdown rules grocery shops, banks, ATMs, hospitals and hotels in rural areas will remain open. But there is a prohibition on the use of vehicles to go to them. In rural areas, shops are 2-3 kilometres away. Should the elderly and the disabled walk all the way to them to buy essential items? Who is to blame if they fall ill due to fatigue? Shouldn’t the government have some common sense? What sort of a Tughlaq government is this?” he stated in his tweets.

“Ministers and officials in the State government must first get out of their air-conditioned offices in Bengaluru and visit the villages to know the real situation there,” he added.
