Bidar: Timely effort by the district administration and health department prevented a huge disaster from occurring at the BRIMS COVID-19 Hospital here on Monday.
More than 100 COVID-19 patients are presently on ventilator in the hospital.
An oxygen tanker, which was supposed to arrive from Bellari’s Jindal at 8 am, was delayed due to technical reasons.
This caused alarm in the hospital as there was only a few hours of oxygen left with them.
The hospital immediately alerted the district administration who formed four teams to bring oxygen from neighbouring districts.
300 oxygen cylinders were quickly arranged and later oxygen meant for Kalburagi district was also diverted to Bidar.
Then at 1 pm, the oxygen tanker that had technical problems finally reached the hospital.
