‘Real star’ Upendra steps in to support film workers amid pandemic

Bengaluru: Amid a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Karnataka government imposed lockdown-like restrictions and all the sectors of the have hit by it.

The Sandalwood industry, which has lost a number of artists in the past few days due to Covid-19 is now facing another problem. As the shootings of all films and serials have been stopped, the technicians and other daily wage workers are facing a food problem.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, real star Upendra has now stepped forward to help the film workers.

“Thousands of workers, artists, and technicians are devastated due to the onslaught of COVID and are rendered jobless. I have decided to distribute grocery kits to around three thousand families belonging to all the associations of our ‘okkuta’ with the blessings of my fans,” Upendra tweeted.

Following his tweet, thousands of fans have expressed their support for this welfare campaign. In addition, many other rich and eminent personalities have joined hands with Upendra in his social cause. Upendra himself tweeted about who is actually helping him through his account.

Meanwhile, SK Steel company has announced the donation of Rs 5 lakh for the cause. This news has been shared by Upendra himself on his Twitter account. In connection with the donation, Upendra has announced that he will donate the money to those television artists and workers who are suffering from Covid situation. It can be recalled here that Upendra is a brand ambassador to SK Steel company.
