Staying healthy is often seen as synonymous with following the latest health trends with shiny names and claims, global fads which are often overrated.
Let’s look at some popular health fads which are overrated and must be avoided:
1) Keto diet: While the keto diet does promise you to burn fat, in theory, it forces your body into a metabolic state of ketosis in which it relies on ketones for energy rather than carbohydrates. Experts suggest that cutting out an entire food group may be detrimental to your health.
2) Apple cider vinegar for weight loss: There is no significant research to back up any of the apple cider vinegar claims such as it helps in weight loss.
3) Intermittent fasting: Intermittent fasting promises fast results but it depends on how and when you choose to fast.
4) Weightloss tea: Weight-loss tea can actually be dangerous, as it has a laxative effect. Not only is this unpleasant, but it can lead to dehydration and malabsorption over time.
5) Water fasting: It has many risks, including becoming dehydrated, creating a drop in blood pressure, and worsening medical conditions such as gout, diabetes, and eating disorders.
