Mangaluru: In view of the surging COVID-19 cases in the city, the Mangaluru City Corporation has appointed COVID-19 Nodal Officers in all of its 60 wards.

Presently, there 12,628 active cases in the district along with 100 containment zones.

The decision for such a move was taken at a meeting chaired by Mayor Premanand Shetty.

“The nodal officers in cooperation with ward corporators must take all measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Primary and secondary contacts must be made to undergo RT-PCR tests and containment zones must be regularly observed,” Shetty said.

“The nodal officers must set up mobile swab collection units manned by home guards and ensure that all arrangements are made at vaccination centres for beneficiaries waiting to be vaccinated,” he added.
