Mangaluru: In yet another case of cattle theft, two persons of a gang were arrested at Kate Kambla near Kompadavu cow shelter for the alleged theft of three cows.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Irfan (27) and Siddiqulla Akbar (32) while four others — Shankar, Akhil, Ismail and Nissar — fled the spot.
It is gathered that the gang had stolen the cows and were transporting them in an inhumane manner. The cows had been tied up and stuffed in an autorickshaw. Bajpe police personnel confiscated the auto and rescued the cows.
The absconding persons were said to be escorting the auto on their two-wheelers and fled the scene upon seeing police.
