Cyclone ‘Tauktae’ could hit India’s west coast on May 16

Mangaluru: The Meteorological Department in a warning has stated that Cyclone Tauktae could hit India’s west coast at Maharashtra and Goa on May 16.
The cyclone formed after a sudden fall in the atmospheric pressure over the northwest Arabian Sea. It is expected to reach a wind speed of 40-50 km/h.
It will pass through Kutch in Gujarat On May 20 and is likely to cause thunderstorms in the southern part of Pakistan.
Already Yellow Alert has been issued for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts for May 12, 13, and 15 and Orange Alert on May 16.
The Department’s warning also stated that fishermen should not venture into the sea on these days.
Normal rainfall will also be experienced by interior districts of the State.
