Mangaluru: Police nab thief during vehicle inspection drive

Mangaluru: Police officials have nabbed a thief during the vehicle inspection at Padil Junction on Wednesday, May 19.
At 5 am on Wednesday, the police officials engaged in checking vehicles near Padil junction, noticed two persons on a scooter coming from the direction of Kannur at high speed
The police signalled the vehicle to stop but the duo tried to escape. However, the scooter wheels skidded on the road and the pillion rider escaped. The rider was caught by the police
During interrogation, the man revealed that his name is Sadath Ali alias Ansar Ali and the one who sped away was Ashraf Ali.
They are accused of several thefts and robberies. Also, they revealed that on Wednesday, they had stolen four mobile phones and cash from the construction workers sleeping in under-construction buildings.
The two were also involved in a theft from an apartment on Kankanady on May 12.
