Bengaluru: A family has filed a case after being duped of Rs 7.9 lakh on the promise of getting medication to treat black fungus in Bengaluru.
Govindaraju, a resident of Hosakote in the city registered the cybercrime complaint. It is said that his son was tested Covid-19 positive and later was diagnosed with Black Fungus. Doctors had asked them to arrange the drug since the hospital didn’t have it in stock.
A man identified as Ashok contacted the patient’s wife and promised that he will courier the Amphotericin B once he received Rs 7.9 lakh. He identified himself as a medical representative
The family transferred the amount but Ashok switched off his phone, once the amount reached him
The Bengaluru cybercrime police are investigating the case.
