Belagavi: A divine horse of the Maradi matha that was brought by the villagers of Konnur in Gokak taluk in the district here to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic to their village has died.
The horse was brought to the village under the guidance of Sri Pawadeshwara Maha Swamiji of the Maradi matha on Wednesday at midnight and was moving in the village till 4 am.
Four days later the horse died.
The horse was brought to the village about 51 years ago during the time of a similar epidemic.
Last year too, during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the horse was brought to the village and the villagers believe that this was the reason for the village reporting no COVID-19 deaths.
The incident has caused shock among the devotees and the villagers. Thousands from nearby villages gathered for the funeral of the horse.
