No marriages permitted in district from May 25 to June 7, announces Udupi DC

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha has announced that from May 25 to June no marriage ceremonies will be allowed in the district in order to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the district in-charge minister on Monday, he said that a decision was taken in the meeting to cancel all marriage and engagement ceremonies in the district and postpone them to after June 7.

“If any such ceremonies are held then criminal cases will be filed against the organisers,” he said.

He added that on Tuesday, May 25, during the lockdown relaxation period (6 am – 10 am) electrical appliances shops will be allowed to open as many have requested for such permission to get their appliances repaired that was damaged during the storms caused by Cyclone Tauktae.
