Bengaluru: Former Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, who is facing a case relating to sleaze CD filed by a lady, on Monday, May 24 confessed that it was him in the video.
“Yes, it’s me in the video, I had no idea that she was recording it,” said Ramesh to the investigating officers.
“I know the lady in the video, she contacted me first and then we met few times before meeting in an apartment. However, I never promised her a government job,” said Ramesh.
He further added, “I did not rape her, everything happened with her consent.”
It may be recalled that Jarkiholi had earlier said that the video recordings are the result of a failed attempt to extort and blackmail him using a morphed video CD.
On March 26, the Bengaluru police, acting on a complaint sent to them by the woman through her advocates, had registered a complaint of assault and sexual intercourse by an official in authority under IPC sections 354 and 376 (c) against Jarkiholi.
In her complaint to the Cubbon Park police, the woman alleged that Jarkiholi coerced her into a sexual relationship by offering her a government job, and that he later reneged on the promise.
She alleged that Jarkiholi enticed her into sexually explicit conversations on video calls and later lured her to meet him at his apartment in Bengaluru where he forced her into sexual intercourse.
