Bengaluru: The State government is likely not to extend the lockdown in the State, which has been already extended till June 7, as data shows a decline in daily COVID-19 cases.
As per reports published earlier, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has instructed officials to prepare a schedule for a phased unlocking as was done last year.
This follows the statement by BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta saying that recoveries have vastly outnumbered new infections in the city, the epicentre of the pandemic in the State, and may lead to more reductions by the end of June.
However, DyCM CN Ashwath Narayan was still cautious about the situation and had stated that lifting of a lockdown is still not been discussed and more consideration is been given to ramping up the State’s medical infrastructure for the expected third wave of the pandemic.
